TRADIE MARKETING ACROSS PERTH.

Different parts of Perth play by genuinely different rules — cheaper auctions out east and south, premium job values along the coast, a long drive to the Peel. Here is what actually changes, region by region.

Short answer

Perth is not one advertising market. Clicks in the south and east typically run 25–40% cheaper than central Perth, the western and coastal belt carries the highest job values and the most crowded auctions, and the Peel is cheap but a long drive. The region you work decides your realistic cost per lead, how wide you can target before the travel eats your margin, and when in the year your campaigns need to already be live.

01 · Region

Perth's Northern Corridor

Covers Joondalup, Wanneroo, Morley, Ellenbrook, and the growth fronts through Tapping, Sinagra, Banksia Grove, Aveley and Brabham.

Marketing a trade business across Perth's northern corridor means running two campaigns at once: repair and replacement work in the established stock around Joondalup and Morley, and handover work — fencing, landscaping, retaining, patios — in the newer estates through Wanneroo and Ellenbrook. Cost per click up here typically runs 15–20% cheaper than central Perth, but the corridor is long, so the real constraint is how far you will actually drive.

Ad competition

Moderate to high. Plenty of operators bid the same northern keywords, and the Joondalup local pack is genuinely contested. The auctions still come in cheaper than central Perth — around 15–20% on the same terms — because the demand is spread across a much wider area.

Job value

Mixed, and that is the point. Older stock north of the Joondalup train line drives switchboards, hot water, roof restoration and second-storey extensions. The newer estates drive lower-value but higher-frequency handover work. Campaigns that jam both into one ad group underperform on both.

Travel radius

The longest of any region. Joondalup to Yanchep is a serious drive, and quoting the far end of the corridor from Morley eats the margin before you start. Target by the postcodes you will actually service rather than 'northern suburbs'.

Seasonality

Renovation and extension enquiries build through spring. HVAC spikes hard with the first genuinely hot week and again at the first cold snap — if your air-conditioning campaign is not already live when that week arrives, you have missed it.

02 · Region

Perth's Southern & South-East Suburbs

Covers Rockingham, Baldivis, Cockburn, Success, Aubin Grove, Canning Vale, Harrisdale, Armadale, Kelmscott, Gosnells, Thornlie and Cannington.

The south is the cheapest large slice of Perth to advertise into: cost per click on trade keywords typically sits 25–40% below central Perth, and local-pack competition is lighter than anywhere except the hills and the Peel. The work splits between post-handover jobs in the growth estates and bread-and-butter repair work in the older stock through Gosnells, Armadale and Cannington.

Ad competition

The lightest auctions of any high-volume part of Perth — roughly 25–40% below central metro on the same trade keywords. Local Service Ads and Google Business Profiles are still underused down here, so the map pack moves faster for a properly set-up profile than it does closer to town.

Job value

Two distinct pools. Growth estates in Baldivis, Success, Aubin Grove, Harrisdale and Canning Vale produce steady handover work: fencing, landscaping, retaining, patios and alfresco. The older, higher-rental stock through Gosnells, Armadale and Cannington produces compliance and turnover work — hot water, switchboards, smoke alarms, end-of-lease repairs — at lower value but far higher frequency.

Travel radius

Wide. Rockingham to Cannington is most of an hour in traffic, and they are not one market. Treat the coastal south and the south-east corridor as separate targeting, not one southern blob.

Seasonality

Less weather-driven than the rest of Perth and more handover-driven — estate completions set the pace. The exception is the Armadale foothills, where fire season from October pulls gutter, tree-line and roofing work forward.

03 · Region

Perth's Eastern Suburbs & Hills

Covers Midland, Guildford, Kalamunda, Lesmurdie and the eastern hills.

The east has the cheapest clicks and the thinnest local-pack competition in metro Perth, largely because fewer tradies run properly built campaigns out here. Midland runs on older established housing plus a light-industrial fringe; the hills above it are a different trade market again — sloped, semi-rural blocks where retaining, earthworks and fire-season work dominate.

Ad competition

The thinnest in the metro. Cost per lead in Midland is among the cheapest in Perth for electrical, plumbing, roofing and HVAC, and the hills are lighter still because a lot of metro tradies simply will not service them.

Job value

Midland leans to repair and maintenance on ageing stock, with commercial and light-industrial work on the fringe. The hills skew higher per job: retaining walls and earthworks on awkward gradients, tree-line and roofing work, and the access problems that come with sloped bush-fringe blocks.

Travel radius

Tight targeting matters more here than anywhere else. Hills geography means a click from someone twenty minutes away by map can be forty-five minutes by road, so paying for a wide radius buys enquiries you cannot profitably reach.

Seasonality

The most seasonal region in Perth. Fire season from October through February pulls gutter clearing, tree-line work and roofing forward hard, and campaigns that go live in November have already missed the front of it.

04 · Region

Perth's Coastal & Western Suburbs

Covers Scarborough, Trigg, Subiaco, Shenton Park, Fremantle, North and East Fremantle, and White Gum Valley.

The western and coastal belt carries the highest average job values in Perth and the highest cost per click to match. Specialists beat generalists here: heritage-restoration trades in Fremantle and Subiaco, and premium outdoor, pool and renovation work along the Scarborough coast. A broad 'we do everything' campaign is the fastest way to lose money in this part of the city.

Ad competition

The most expensive auctions and the most crowded local packs in greater Perth. Every other tradie wants this work, and the map pack in Subiaco and Scarborough is genuinely hard to break into without reviews and a real specialisation.

Job value

The highest in the metro. Renovation, pool work, outdoor entertaining and premium-finish building all run well above the Perth average, and the heritage stock through Fremantle and Subiaco creates specialist work — re-stumping, restoration plumbing, lime rendering, sash windows — that generic operators cannot price, let alone deliver.

Travel radius

Short and dense, which is the one genuine advantage of working this belt. You can run a tight radius and still see enough volume, so there is no excuse for paying for clicks from across the river.

Seasonality

Outdoor and pool work builds from late winter into summer. Coastal exposure adds a steady year-round base of salt-driven replacement work — glazing, painting, fencing and anything metal facing the sea.

05 · Region

The Peel Region

Covers Mandurah, Falcon, Halls Head and the wider Peel.

Mandurah and the Peel sit outside Perth metro but trade as part of greater Perth. Clicks are dramatically cheaper — often 30–50% below central Perth for the same keywords — and local-pack competition is light. The catch is reach: most central-Perth tradies do not service it, which is exactly why it is worth targeting deliberately rather than by accident.

Ad competition

The lightest anywhere in the Forge West service area. Cost per click frequently runs 30–50% under central Perth on identical trade keywords, and the map pack is thin enough that a well-built Google Business Profile can move quickly.

Job value

Mixed. A holiday-home and retiree-heavy stock produces maintenance, repair and outdoor work, with renovation activity concentrated around the canals and the coast.

Travel radius

The genuine decision point. Mandurah is a long run from most of Perth, so this is either a region you commit to servicing properly or one you exclude from targeting entirely. Half-committing to it wastes budget on enquiries you will end up declining.

Seasonality

A strong summer skew, with the holiday-home stock driving pre-season maintenance from spring.

By trade

Wherever you are, the trade changes the playbook.

Region sets your cost per click and how far you can drive. Your trade sets everything else — whether Google or Meta earns the budget, what an enquiry should cost, and when in the year to spend it. Start with electrician marketing in Perth, plumber marketing in Perth, or the Perth earthworks account that averages $12.06 an enquiry. The full figures behind that number are on the results page.
